Since it's your first post, do you know the ordering process? You need to send an email to HIMIMP@aol.com.

Many new customers get confused about what to say, but it's really quite simple: think of what information you'd need from someone to sell them something -- what they want, where to send it, how they'll pay. I use a subject like:

BF:DOTD [DATE]: I'll take the [WHAT YOU WANT]

BF is BlafeForums / DOTD is Deal of the Day (you might substitute Christmas deals for the current specials) -- The email body is like:

I'll take the [WHAT YOU WANT]; please let me know
if [it is/they are] still available.

I am:

[YOUR NAME]
[YOUR MAILING ADDRESS]
[CITY, STATE, ZIP]

Upon confirmation, I will make payment of [AMOUNT]

But I can't believe that the little 13 inch 15 ounce katunje by Sher is still available. It is the 'sleeper' in the days offerings. :D
 
Email sent on R-10.

Bought the R-10 from the Christmas deals for 12/16. It just arrived yesterday — that's Chicago mail delivery, speedy is not the word — and I liked it so much that I had to have this one. A young friend who is into hunting and fishing will get one of them for her wedding anniversary. Good thing the R-10 from 12/17 sold, I probably would have bought that too!

Wasn't Dill in need of an operation? It's good to see his work again.

In the DOTD for 8/12/08 Yangdu wrote that "Dil Kami is ill at present time he is in the hospital for Dr. care." and that money from the sale of one of the Khukuri's was going towards his medical expenses.

Maybe Yangdu will give us all an update?

That R-10 was on my top picks list ...something about that pointy little blade appeals so very much.:D

I've only noticed one or two others...and they were in DOTD's, here in the archives.
It's one the kami's make when they want to and not a regular part of the lineup.
Still, it looks like a great model to have.

Katunje AKA Yangdu Special. Katunje is a town in Nepal: Yangdu calls it "my special," maybe that's where she's from. Not regular stock in trade, that's why it isn't in the HI web shop.

Forum consensus seems to be "a nice small khukuri that doesn't show up too often." This is a little more specific:

If you're a big guy with big hands, BAS might be a better fit.
 
I find I like khukris with a 12" to 14" blade.
Also, I like the way the spine on the "katunje special"curves in an arc like some older khuks, rather than an angle.
Any more details like blade thickness, the type of sheath, whether the chakma + karda have the same wood in the handles, the special characteristics of the smith who forged it etc?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I got a confirmation from Yangdu that the Katunje is coming home to me. All I can figure is that you did not supply the proper information as per the Ordering Instructions sticky. Been there, done that too. Just be sure you put in the item description (and DOTD date), your name and shipping address and how you're going to pay. If you don't do send those four things, you will not get the item. Sharkin' over here is a dog eat dog business!:o
