Christmas Deals for 12/5 -- Pix, Gorkha Hat Knife, Cherokee Rose and Awesome Buys

Anyone got an idea how thick that Bowie blade is?

Up to 3/8" on some of them (this one is 10 inches OAL):

...As shown in the photo below, the spine thickness is 3/8" at the previously mentioned balance point, and tapers in both directions (tapers down to 3/16" at the top rear of the handle, and 5/16" where the spine starts to drop toward the tip).

^Awesome! Dude that's a cleaver with style.

There is a strange angle on the spine where the tip starts. Is this an illusion?

Yes it's absolutely an illusion. That very knife lived with me for a while, it's perfectly normal. I thought the same when I saw the picture, I thought weird.
It's replacement is on me today and it measures a full 3/8" just forward of the grip. Don't think your gonna bend one.

Bawanna I'm looking at your signature pic. Do you have 3 of different sizes or it's a photo montage of the same?

What do you mean by "That very knife lived with me for a while (...) It's replacement is on me today"?

Did I just buy your knife?

Bawanna had a knife like the one in my post above. I believe that Pugs now has it, and Bawanna bought another one. His signature pic has a 10" OAL knife on top, with some photo-chopping of lengths below. I think he has an special order in mind for the bottom one, labelled "7 1/2"- 3 1/2" blade, 4" handle. Purrfect!"

I see.

It's been a while since I'm looking for a small but sturdy knife.

Couples of years ago I got this one and it is just a bit too small. Something similar from HI with a blade an inch longer. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

That Cherokee Rose is my pick of the day. Tirtha makes a hellova bowie blade. Lovely weight on that.

Precisely. I think a scaled down Mini AK in the 7 1/2 to 8" length range but maintain the 3/8" thickness and blade depth and a man would have the perfect belt knife. I wear this one once in a while but it's right at the limit of allowable carry especially in civilian law enforcement uniform in an office environment. It fits my personality perfectly so they don't pay much notice but the average guy, alarm bells would be going off all over the place.

The one I have now is a mirror image of that one pictured, only 10 1/4" instead of 10" even. Both Bahktas, both beautiful. Just had a complusive urge to give it to Pugs and he made an awesome hunk of beavertail sheath for it so it's in good hands.

Yes sir it is,

Yes sir it is,

That's the very same knife in Mr. Talls picture. You can see the top is just what' you'd expect. I don't know how that one picture made it look so different.
I see Mr. Pugs must be leaving it out in the rain and stuff letting it rust and go to heck. A little leg pulling there, never hurt nobody.
Looks like you can still use it as a mirror to shave with if your into shaving and have another Bowie to shave with.

Anyone know specs/info on the Cherokee Rose?
I've eyeballed this model for some time and now
she's headin' my way! I might even have passed on
the Chitlangi Bowie had I known this Rose would
appear.

If your passin on the Chitlangi, let me know and I'll send you an address.

I don't have any specific / info but I held one at Aunties during show and tell and it's look and size were very deceiving.

My first thought when I saw it was a wall hanger with real strong mounts that don't tear out the sheetrock.

But in hand it's right handy, sure it's got heft to it but not anything negative at all. The balance and feel are nothing short of amazing.

I think your gonna love it a whole bunch when you get it. I really do.

Let me know on that Chitlangi.....which one was that anyhow the 18" or the giant one? Don't matter, I got a big mail receptacle. My outstretched arms waiting for the mail man.

There is some info on this page: http://www.himalayan-imports.com/new.html

Like all HI knives there will be variations in length, weight and carvings, but this is the general description.

Bawanna, the sheath pugs made for you looks sick! I don't know what I like more, the bowie or the sheath!

That's actually his sheath. I haven't seen it in person but I agree it is a beauty to behold.

I keep trying to get a collection started . . .

Whats the hold up buddy? You need another visit to the bawanna man cave and more pep talk?

Just remember once the journey begins, the trains left the station and its hard to get off. I've tried to jump more than once and you see how well I did.
