Christmas GAW to the "traditionals "

I am in! I don’t know much about French makers, but by the looks of that knife I need to learn more! My experience with French knives to date is the usual folders, my favorite being the Opinel no 6.
Thanks for your generous GAW!

I’m in! Let’s see, what do I know about French knives...I know that the file work and craftsmanship that I’ve seen on many French knives is second to none. I know that Opinel is timeless, and one of the purest utilitarian folding knives out there. I know that the fixed blade you are offering here is a very fine example of what French Cutlers can do. Thanks for a fun getaway!

Thank you for the generous GAW Âchillepattada Âchillepattada and such a beautiful custom knife. I love french knives and am slowly acquiring a few. I am not in because I've won enough but your kindness is appreciated. Good luck to all.

I'm in!

I know very little about French custom knives, primarily from what has been posted in this forum.

Hello,

I have read so many nice words and actions that I've decided to propose a GAW.

I've "forgotten" just one rule of the forum and placed my message one this specific discussion ( and not on the GAW discussion ) because it's almost the only part of the forum where I go .

To receive the knife you will just have to write "I'm in " and a few words about what you know or imagine about the french custom cutlery.
Of course the shipping cost will be at my expense .
I'll use a random generator to pick the winner next wednesday at 10pm local time.

The knife has been bought to a famous french knife maker, Marc Alfieri, 25 years ago. It's brand new and I've never used it .
It has an ats34 9,5cm blade and a 10cm ebony handle .

Best of luck to everyone

Seems to me that French custom cutlery walks a very fine line between the traditional forms of ages past and new forms that keep the knives from being stale, hidebound, and parodies of themselves. In short, pushing the traditions into the current era. A good example right now is the form called "Le Thiers." One-offs abound, though, and I love seeing them.

I'm in. I know the french make very nice kitchen cutlery like Sabatier and that the folders like languiole's traditionally have a lock release tab shaped like a bee.

I'm in. Beautiful knife. The French have their own style and form equals function most often

I’m in. Although I have a pile of Opinels and a lone Douk-Douk, i have no experience with French custom knives. What little I know I have read here on the Porch.

I don't know why I've been waffling on this; the knife's too good for me perhaps? Enough of that nonsense.

I'M IN. Thank you for the chance.

Most of my French regionals are Sabots. Not the prettiest, but at least among the cheapest, and very strongly built.

I am in -- how could I not?! Such a beautiful knife and, for me, perfectly sized. Sadly I have no personal experience with French knives but have admired those posted here. Thank you very much for the opportunity in your very generous GAW.

I'm in.

I love the simple design of this one.

I don't know much about custom French cutlery but I've seen one or two on YouTube and they look like they have a great eye for design.

Happy holidays!

Please count me in! I don't know much about French cutlery. But I know that knife is a beautiful one!

I have also to thank you for your interest in this GAW and to say that I have been very impressed by those who have sent a message saying that they have received enough gift and prefer to let the others win. THAT'S REALLY A FANTASTIC ATTITUDE !!!!:)
