Glad you like your knife:) It was my pleasure. #6 spoke to you, and who am I to get in the way of something like that;)

LOL. You are a good man, Steely. Which one did you end up with? I feel that each Tibetan Knife has a soul unlike anything else out there. Just look at those details! Perhaps it's due to the time and elaborate effort that went into making each Tibetan Knife or perhaps it's simply due to its unique look. I am humbled by how mortal money can buy such amazing works of art.

I dunno which one, Yangdu is sending me:) I just asked that she send whatever was left over. I figure whatever shows up is meant to be. It oughta show up tomorrow or monday. What is worse than waiting on an HI knife to show up...waiting for a SURPRISE HI knife to show up;) An exercise in patience is good for the soul.

Mine arrived yesterday, the pictures just don't do these justice. The knife is beautiful and well-executed. The blade is engraved with a brass symbol inlaid near the tip. The symbol resembles a reverse question mark with a long tail pointing towards the tip. I'm curious as to what the symbol means, anybody know?

I particularly like the wire wrapping on the handle. This beauty's going alongside the silver dankhuta.

Steely - Uncle Bill used to pick blades for me, too.

On virtually every stupa (Buddhist shrine) in Nepal, there are giant pairs of eyes staring out from the four sides of the main tower. These are Buddha Eyes (also known as Wisdom Eyes), and they look out in the four directions to symbolize the omniscience (all-seeing) of a Buddha. The Buddha eyes are so prevalent throughout the country that they have become a symbol of Nepal itself. Between the Buddha's eyes where the nose would be is a curly symbol that looks like question mark.
This is the Nepali character for the number 1, which symbolizes unity of all the things as well as the one way to reach enlightenment—through the Buddha's teachings.
Above this is a third eye, symbolizing the all-seeing wisdom of the Buddha.

Not quite the same symbol that i'm seeing on the blade, but i suppose it could also be the symbol for the sacred word "OM", as in "OM MANI PADME HUM" ( as written in the prayer wheel in my sig). http://www.google.com/search?um=1&h...pl=417064l420354l0l9l9l0l0l0l1l236l1504l1.4.4
