This set of knives is affectionately known as "the Bears" a reference to the two scrimshawed bruins on the butts of the knives handles.
On Christmas morning, this year, I opened a package sent to me by a good friend of long standing, now living in Texas. The package contained this set of knives along with a note, it read: " I have enjoyed being the owner of these knives for the last ten years. I know you, the maker, love these blades as I do. I have had them long enough and am sending them back to you for your enjoyment.
Love you Brother, Tim. "
Tim purchased this set of knives at a show in Cambridge Oh in 2006 or 08 we can't decide which.
The set of crowns, at the butt end of the knives, were found by my Beagles while rabbit hunting a few miles south of my home. The Beagles flushed the big 12 point out of a thicket and the buck "shed" his antlers within a hundred yards of being flushed. When I picked the antlers up, the butts were still wet and warm. A strange find for sure.
My friends wife did the scrimshaw, Sandy Morrissey made the beautiful sheaths. The knives are 19" and 14" OAL.
To say I am pleased to have the blades in my home again does not express my sentiments well.
Happy New Years to All, Fred
