I haven't seen a thread this year for knives that are going to be christmas gifts. Let's see them!
Money has been real tight this year, so everyone in my family is getting a knife:
For my Dad:
Puukko
1/8" thick 1084
4" Blade
"cocobolo" dymondwood handle w/ two copper pins and 2 aluminum corby bolts
mustard finish
I made one a lot like this earlier in the year and my dad liked it so much he wanted one of his own
For my brother:
Funayuki
1/8" 1084
7" blade
"cocobolo" dymondwood handle w/ copper pins
For my mom:
Sgian Dubh
1/8" 1084
3" blade
handle is paracord over kydex and a piece of Clan Dunbar tartan (my mother is a Dunbar). Originally, the section of tartan I used showed the pattern better, but after the glue and shellac the green looked too dark and I didn't think it looked good at all.
menuki is white-lipped pearl to match the one I made for my dad last christmas
mustard finish
handle detail:
For my friend:
Shiseiji Bocho ("bastard knife")
1/8" 1084
6.5" blade
"cocobolo" dymondwood handle with copper pins
