Christmas Knives?

I gifted my Mom a Vic Explorer with a Christmas Motive and my Stepdad a big Chefs Knife. I bought myself my Christmas Knives.
What makes them Christmas knives? The fact that you purchased them at Christmas time or something else?

Bought myself (pretended it was a gift from the wife) the latest version of Spyderco's Native 5 lightweight. Bought it new and couldn't pass on the price (less than $60); it was inexpensive because 1) the lightweights are the most affordable version of any given Spyderco, and 2) it was "downgraded" to S30V from other versions available in S35VN and S110V.

Funny how yesterday's super steels are today's budget steels.

The Victorinox was a special edition from last year:

The Chef knife was simple a Christmas gift, same with the folder I bought for me (aside from the fact that maybe you can call it Christmas Tree Green G10 :D). So only the Explorer is a real Christmas Knife I suppose.

My wife gave me a Benchmade 940. I also bought myself a Benchmade Griptillian 551-1, the one the gray/blue G10 scales and 20CV steel.

My ‘Christmas present to myself’ usually comprises knives. I really spoiled myself this December... ;)

Fällkniven PXL
Spyderco Shaman DLC
Spyderco Manix 2 S110V
Mark Hill Kephart
Case Stockman Amber Bone
Case Texas Jack Amber Bone

The Kephart has to be the winner, as it is custom and Mark did an amazing job.

They are all great, however. My missus bought me the new ruck I wanted, 65ltr Berghaus. It beats the living crap out of the British Army Bergen I have been carting round for years. That beast is heavy even before you pack it! ;) My younger kids bought me a fondue set, which I wanted - 20 yrs since I last made one, it is time! My eldest son bought me a bottle of Gin - well done, that man. ;)

The wife said she was thinking of buying me a knife for Christmas. I finally got her to tell me it was a Spyderco, with yellow handles. I assume it was a salt series and while I'm sure they're fine knives, I had my heart set on a ZT 0562cf. When I told her about the ZT, and said I planned on buying it soon, even if it wasn't for a Christmas gift, she told me to order it. I did and I couldn't be happier with it. I also received a Case trapper from my brother in law who, just a few days earlier I refused to let borrow my ZT. I kinda felt guilty but I've known that guy a long time and been burned by letting him use my knives on several occasions. Some people look at a knife and see a screwdriver and have no appreciation for quality.

This is my first post so apologies if I mess up a few things -

I got myself a Cold Steel 4Max (designed by Andrew Demko). Its pretty big folder made from CPM-20CV steel, its for my weekend EDC. At the barn working with horses and use my knife 5-10 times a day. I could use the pocket clip, but i prefer a belt case, so I had a leather one custom made. I have used it a few days now, prefect carry setup and is strong enough to do fixed blade work and agile enough to do simple quick typical folder work. Very happy. Thanks Santa.
