Is there anyone here who does "handle replacement" on Spyderco knives?

Spyderco has a purple FRN handled Ladybug 3 in their 2009 catalog, operative word being 2009. There may not be enough time between now and Christmas, since I don't know what FRN is or if it is commercially available in purple, but it would make a nice gift for my wife.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking at the Ladybug 3 because she is not a knife person and it has to be extremely sheeple friendly due to where she works. I also was looking at the Cricket, Polywog, Lava, or one of the brand new C-127's or C-128's.

The Lava, to me, would be exceptionally ideal but it only comes in the stainless steel model as far as I can tell.

Or would this just be too terribly cost ineffective and I should just be patient? I already called Spyderco and found out "no custom orders". I also haven't bought the knife yet which could really complicate things too.

If your wife likes purple, I'd suggest visiting New Graham Knives website and looking at the Santa Fe Stoneworks Kiwis they have, particularly the Sugilite and Charoite ones. Those are purple, and a customized Ladybug would probably wind up costing as much or more.

I have never seen a knife like this one. Did you purchase it from new graham? "Walk softly and carry a big knife"
