There are two schools of thought on pricing. Most retailers jack up their initial proce then run everything on sale all the time. The reason you see 30% off sales near Christmas is they are running a 50 or 60% markup to begin with and factor in the 30% off when setting the price. They would need to go 70% or 80% off to get near cost
I follow the second method where my everyday price is close to my cost with a small margin. It keeps every day prices lower but doesn't give me much room to run sales. Since most of my customers seem to be resellers,who are making items for resale, it seems the better method for establishing stable prices and establishing a customer base for repeat customers.
That said I do want to try to do something for the holidays so from now until 1-1-25 I am running a Christmas sale with everything on the website 5% off. Same rules still apply; 100% money back guarantee on every item, $6 flat shipping per order, etc. This is the only sale I plan to run this year and is good until the end of the year and covers the entire site nothing exempt
