Nice offer Count. Thanks.
Im out though as I was fortunate enough that the Worlds Greatest Dadminehanded me a copy about 34 yrs ago. That realization makes me feel old now but I still thumb through it at least once a year as I keep finding new and useful details.
Guys, this is a classic while still meant to be used. It covers both basic stock removal and hand forging SOPs (RWLs and Bill Morans no less) and also has chapters on practical shop safety, on making a quality straight knife sans modern power tools (yeah brace and bit), on sheath making and some selective history of American handmades. There is also clear input on craft from other past greats like Corbet Sigman and Buster Warenski (his "Gem of the Orient" sold originally for $1.2 million).
Now the bad news; this second edition forward contains what look to be photocopies of the original B&W photos (misplaced negatives?). I have seen two of these side by side with my grime-covered dog-eared copy and they are simply awful. To the point of being useless in at least one section.
So, if you really want this book, and are not that one guy Sam picks in his secret enigmatic Christmas ritual, then I would suggest saving your pennies and hunting the older editions. Look for the white cover.
