One might wonder WHY I would sell the knife this way rather than simply make the donation myself. Good question, I needed to think about it too.
My thinking: This Baker folder is a very sweet knife. I'm selling because I realize that I have been saving it rather than using it. It seems that my selling price is higher than most will be persuaded to spend. Still, to my way of thinking, it is well worth the price. Much lesser knives have sold for much more money.
With that in mind I figured that perhaps someone would consider the knife purchase as a separate transaction from the donation. In that case $220.00 for this particular knife is a great deal - a bargain even - and the extra $100.00 a modest contribution to a worthy cause. Having been too cold myself in my own home - cold and hunger are 2 sufferings I try to alleviate when I can. Fuel assistance (along with food assistance) are neighborhood causes to which every contributed $ eases some pain in a direct way. We do what we can.
And so I hope to share the effort. Will be fun to think that someone from beyond the Mississippi is helping to keep a family warm in mid-coast Maine. OK too, if you are in New England
Thank you, thank you - MUCH TO MY DELIGHT AND SURPRISE a few kind and generous souls have made donations to the Fuel Assistance even though they were not inclined to purchase the knife. I'm making new BF friends and some of my neighbors will be warmer this winter.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart. You know who you are!
Thank you Rick - thank you EVERYONE who participated. This went BETTER than I expected.
IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED, FEEL FREE TO KEEP THE FUEL ASSISTANCE GOING
Cheers, Ray
Just so ya know, I have made an additional contribution.
