Christy sliding knife variations?

Here is my picture.

Can someone tell me how to post a picture direct from my computer? I don't do a hosting site, never have in all the forums I belong to...

If you don't have a paid membership (paid = 'Basic', 'Gold', 'Platinum', etc.), you won't have the option of uploading photos directly to the site. That's where a photo-hosting site is useful, and it won't cost you anything to go that route, either.

Two examples of the Christy Sliding Blade Knife.

If I understood the earlier posts correctly, the earlier model (top) was likely made sometime between 1939 and 1959. It has a wire bail, concave button, and the blade is only ground on one side. It has a loop in the "h" on the front plate and the patent number. The back plate doesn't include the zipcode.

The other knife is a current version called the Traveler. It comes with a Teflon nickle plating.

Both knives were assembled in Freemont, Ohio by hand on the same machines they've been using since 1936.

I'm tempted to buy the brass version.

Can anyone help narrow down the date of production of that earlier knife?

Golly, I thought this thread had passed away. It is an earlier knife given the description. It is difficult to be very precise with a design that did not change often, unless you find one with advertisment tied to a specific company. They are surprisingly practical little knives.

Yes, a very, very handy and practical little knife. The older I got, the more I appreciated them, and its rare that I don't have one in a pocket.
