I have some chrome tanned leather that was given to me I know i cant use it for sheathes but can i use it for a frog to hold the sheaths?
or put it against my skin?

You can use it for a ton of things, most leather that is used for jackets, personal items like purses and wallets (not all but alot), things of that nature. There are actually too many things to list really. So yes anything against your skin will be fine. For frogs I would personally use a strap type of leather, now strap leather can be tanned many ways one of which is chrome tanned so it depends on the leather. Thickness and type.

You can use it for outer lays or for a kind of inlay depending on how the leather looks for a contrasting look.

Inlays for sheaths is a good idea.
If it's thin enough you can line a skived button to make sure it doesn't scratch the blade.
Wrap for kydex if you like that look.
Spacers in hidden tang handles.
Used under hemp wrap handles for bulk.
Lots of things to do. Just use that imagination!

I don't have a better pic but it should give the idea.
I've made a few sheets, vegetable tanned, covered with chrome tanned.

Also, leather absorbes glue. Apply it twice. Wait a few minutes between first and second time.
