Just read on another knife forum that Chuck Buck died Friday. Can anyone confirm this?

ETA
Confirmed in the Buck subforum...

RIP Chuck Buck!

A sad report indeed. My best to his family and friends.

SAK GUY: You are welcome! i just edited my reply to you and added a Facebook Screenshot from Buck's official Facebook page too! Hope you are having a great day! Blessings to you and yours!

Very sad news, wasn't CJ Buck a moderator here at one time.

The Kalinga (Model 401) was designed by my uncle Frank D. Buck. He was my father's younger brother and he passed away in 1974. His tastes were very flambouyant and while we made them the Kalinga was one of the most difficult knives to mass produce. My grandfather Al, thought another knife without such an aggressive sweeping blade was necessary for the line and designed the Akonua (model 402)

My grandfather's favorite knife was the Kalinga and he named his boat after that knife. We also made a Kalinga with Mastodon Ivory handles and engraved with Al's birthdate and the date of his death and sat it in his coffin for his viewing. That knife is in our display in our main hallway to this day.

I have had bikers tell me they like the knife for it's aggressive look and feel. I have had hunters tell me that the skinning sweep on the blade made it their favorite work knife. To each his own. I just know it is a beautiful knife.

i am not sure. I googled it and dug around deep...I could not find anything except for people who knew or met him wishing him happy birthday, etc. with personal pics with him.

Naturally, a sad piece of news for his family & friends.

But comfort can be derived from leaving behind a fine and respected cutlery firm. I have just 4 Buck slipjoints and one fixed blade and I have been delighted by all of them: worthy, well made work-knives that whilst not as beautiful as some of their counterparts, they are satisfying to own and use. That's actually how it should be and that fact must be a source of pride to the company and family.

Let's remember with a picture or two

This 309 I was lucky enough to win here and its great snap and solid precision endear it to me, a champion of the small:thumbup:

Whereas, this Solitaire was a Christmas present to myself. It was inexpensive, extremely nicely finished and although quite long is a first-rate carry and one I would dearly hate to lose. It is also monstrously sharp......

I would like to add my heart-felt appreciation and affection for the Buck family. Although I never knew any of the people, I have read of their high integrity, and I was using fixed blade Buck knives as trusted and loved tools many years before I got "the fever." Ironically, although I do not collect Buck knives (I still use them as tools), the beginning of my collecting career came as a direct result of the gift of a buck Alpha from my son. It is shown here with a GEC 23 for scale. I love this Buck knife and because of the circumstances it is very special.

This is sad, as we've lost a great person in the world of knives. I met him at the Blade show in Knoxville at the end of the 80's. A great guy!!!

He will be missed.

Maybe I'll go buy a small Buck to celebrate his life and his family name.

Sad day indeed, my condolences. Never met Chuck myself but everyone that did on the Buck Forum considered him a great guy and a gentleman.
Buck knives have always been some of my favorites.

He still is listed as a moderator of the Buck manufacturers forum.
Looking into that forum would've easily confirmed the sad news of Mr. Bucks passing.

I know you are not speaking to me here..but I tried to find it too per the question above, and could not. I went to the Buck mfg'rs forum here and didn't see it..BUT I am fairly new, so chances are, it was right in front of my face and I missed it. :) However, I did find it on their facebook and took a screenshot, which I posted. :-) Thank you for directing people to the Buck Forum though. Seems like a good idea to me. I only wish I would have seen it on the forum you mention here. Probably should have worn my 'stronger' reading glasses! Ha!

There are two condolences threads and one picture remembrance thread in that forum.
Perhaps you need to slow down a little? ;) :D

I'd ask that all condolences and remembrances be posted in that forum, those at Buck Knives will not see them posted here.

Thank you for your advice and direction. I do think, however, it was my lack of proper reading glasses. I had on my weak pair and was having a bit of trouble seeing. :) But, in truth, I was in a hurry to find it as well..so you could be right. ;)
