Chuddy Bear Leather web site

Gratenate,

That is a great idea about the customer pics. If any of you guys have any pics of you with your sheath that you would send me I will post them up.
I would also appreciate any of my prior customers sending me a quick testimonial if you get time, bear in mind I will post only your first name or forum name if you send one in.

Thanks a lot guys, you have all come up with some great ideas and I think the site is looking much better now. Thank you.

Chuck.

What program are you using to build your site? Or is it something built in to your ISP account?

looks great chuck!!

how about a link page? maybe check with jerry, skunk, eric, and the scrapyard people and post links to their pages?

heck, id even post a link to armoralleather.

Very impressed! As others have said, the design is simple, tidy, elegant and informative. I've done a few small commercial websites in my time and it's the sort of look I tended to (try to) do.

Very well done.

It is a program from the ISP. I picked the mode for dummies. I also downloaded a more complicated program and figured out some of what I wanted to do though the tutorial that came with it. My brain is fried, si I think I will leave it alone for a little while.

Mark, good idea. I was going to ask dwayne if I could link to his site and I hadnt even thought about the Busse combat, swamp rat or company store. I will ask them all if I can link them.

Foxyrick, This was pretty complicated for me ,maybe simple for you. LOL

Nice job on the website.

I have already added it to my favorites.

The site looks great! May I suggest a "Gallery" section to record all past work and action shots from users.

I added galleries for drop loops, danglers and randall style sheaths. I just need confirmation from the people I mailed to use their links and I will be all set.

Few suggestions

1. Make some pictures on price list, so it will be clear what is drop loop for Game Warden.

2. Make better pictures, you have some sense of taste (you making beautiful sheath), so if you pay some attention you may also make pictures of you beautiful sheath also beautiful. See for youself but I may suggest to try different angle and several pictures not only one. Wipe sheath with some shine - like silicone close I use. And of course background... The one you have now is bad, you are working with leather you may use some full grain leather on background not carpet or blanket

3. Nothing is more sad then empty - "Sheath available now". It is just depressing. I suggest you to present there all you sheath and for some which are not available put something like - available in 7 days by request or something and for one which available put - available NOW. So it will be all the same but bit more positive.

4. Is is possible to make face with clear blank tooling leather so someone like me can then put som drawing or calligraphy on it, customize it this way? It is nothing to do with site, just some idea or request for sheath-maker.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassilli,

1). I just added a gallery for each style sheath, does that help any?

2). I am working on getting better at the pics, you should have seen my old ones.

3). I really dont get caught up often enough to work ahead and just make sheaths. I have not gone over a ten day order to shipment yet. I dont make anywhere near the total number some full time guys make. Most sheaths I do are done in a couple days.

4). Do you mean something like finishing a sheath all the way including drilling the holes, then not stitching it. Then the person that gets it can make any design he wants on it and stitch it up. I dont see why not. Kind of like a kit sheath.

Those BATAC sheaths in the picture on the bottom of the drop loop sheaths page look familiar :-)

Here they are again with my BATACs.

Great workmanship, great quality, and great value. I will be ordering more soon.

Thanks Chuck.

1. My point is that price and picture better be at one plce one near other, so I can see what this beauty cost right away.

2. Good, I am sure it should not be a problem for you if you just notice this and pay some attention.

3. It is OK, you may have famouse Busse "two weeks", but empty page is bad from appearance point of view, I think, so it better be something there even with comment that usually it may take 9 weeks or whatever, but not empty - if I see it empty few times I will not visit it again most likely ever.

4. This may be good idea also, but I meant have clean white unfinished untouched tooling leather on the face so I or someone else may put logo there or some other drawing or writing, however I am not sure how many people will like to draw or write something on their sheath... May be this is bad idea...

But in general this is pretty well done website. It is better then many commercial sites I saw.

Thanks, Vassili.

As far as marketing goes, pricing and pictures as you have them are most effective and will serve you best. There are too many options to overload customers with if you are pricing every models feature. It will swamp you with questions as well.

Your picture are getting much better. Keep in mind, a simple picture of your sheath on a sterile background will sell your work and keeps it easy to navigate. Personally, I wouldn't have an "Available Now" page, and if you have a gallery, that is where I would put "artistic" photos.

Chuck, you will always have consumer suggestions and the occassional know it all that will never be happy. Keep it enjoyable and simple. You have a fine product and a very nice website.

I was just sitting here thinking the same thing about the available now page, being that I almost never have anything for it, it is just a waste of time. Whenever I get something made ahead I have always just put it on the sale forum and it goes pretty fast. I think I will get rid of that page.

I am not talking about artistic photos, you may check threads with my pictures if you want and may see that some people were incuraged to buy seeing them.

Clean photo which represent knife or sheath best is one thing and artistic photo is another. As well as good photo representing you work is one thing and some shot just to put it on the web with sterile carpet as a background is just look amateur. So photo should not be artistic as well as simple amateur, but represent you work best.

I heart this before several times, like some pictures may be too good and will not help you, so do not try your best and instead make something simple... Why then so many knifemakers doing their photos by professionals?

Is this photo artistic and will not sell the knife? I doubt it.

Here is an example of artistic photo if you like:

So I think difference is clear. And better you represent you work, better for you, so just pay some attention and your taste will tell you what is best.

Thanks, Vassili.
