Cigars???

Here is my list of favorites:
Torano in general - Silver Edition 1959 Exudos my all time favorite
CAO in general - Gold specificly
Romeo and Julieta
Artureo Fruente (SP?)
When I started I would buy them in in ones and twos to figure out what I liked. Thompson is not a bad place to order from. Shop around for the best value but don't be afraid to buy from a different vendor if a good deal comes along. I bought the custom label cigars from Thompson when my daughter was born. I handed them out to my friends and co-workers. The cigars were decently priced and were a pretty good smoke.

My local shop has a Domaine AVO tasting on Friday. What should I look for?

I like them a little mild, a fairly short smoke that I won't have to re-light every few minutes.

Thanks.

My issue is that anywhere I look, you can only buy boxes of 10 of 25. Or if you get a sampler then you get half trash. My town isn't exactly cultured and the only thing I can get around here is the infamous Black and Mild......

Anywhere or anyone I can get individuals from? I am putting out a WTB thread!

You are going to need a few boxes in Febuary or March and even more if you go to Blade again. Stock up and give away the cigars you don't like.

Giving away your rejects isn't the best way to make friends! ....here ya' go ....they taste like cheit, but you can have one!;):D

I love to smoke a good, make that a great smoke, with a great scotch. When first starting out smoking, start out with the milder smokes, then work your way to the medium bodied smokes, and so on.

I have always enjoyed any stick from Fuente, especially the FFOX which is ultra primium.

Here are a couple of links to check out... If you can, listen to "Cigar Dave" he has an excellant broadcast show on cigars, and a pretty good website also,

Thompson Cigar has a great selection of cigars, and samplers.

Take it slow, sit back, enjoy your company and relax.

The best thing about cigars is that they remind me of the Bill Clinton administration.

I can lean back and just sniff one and remember looking at my stock portfolio going up $7,000 to $15,000 a day. Why can't Jesus talk to GW about that:confused: :grumpy:.

Ok...

This has sparked my interest again. I have about 30 cigars in my humidor, some Cuban, some Opus X, all decent and some no longer made, most have been sitting for 3+ years. Some still, somehow, feel firm and good, others feel hard as a rock, dried up most likely. Anyone here ever re-constitute a cigar? Optimum humidity level and temp for a humidor? All this I once knew, but has been forgotten. :-(

I did a search on reunifying cigars, if you do the same you can come up with some good advice. evidently it is not that easy, and involved slowly increasing the immunity over a period of months.
back to suggestions

how about a sampler pack of Rocky Patel's you get a good deal in those, and they're very good cigars including Sun grown cigars and other very nice pieces,http://www.tinderbox.com/Rocky-Patel-Limited-Edition-Robusto-Sampler-Cigars

The best cigar I have found for new guys is a cigar by Drew Estates called "Isla del Sol". You can get them in the "Churchill" size. . . . They have a sweet, chocolatey flavor and when you're finished you'll think you just ate a Hersey Bar!!!. . . .I've got at least 5 guys in the shop hooked on these and one hardcore cigarette smoker has now switched completely over to cigars because of this bad boy. . ..

Be sure to put a very narrow "V" shaped cut in the end as they are a "Short Fill" meaning they are made up of smaller pieces of tobacco. If you chop the end off, you'll be spittin' small pieces of tabacco throughout your entire smoke.

Here's a link where you can buy them cheap!

After you're hooked, on cigars, try an Oliva Cameroon in the Churchill size. . . . They are very mild and can rarely be beat for the price. . . .

I would avoid Maduros until you're more in to it as they are generally stronger cigars. . . I avoid them like the plague because they always taste like I have smoked a chunk of asphalt. . . :barf:

Alway puff and NEVER inhale!

Good luck my friend and let us know how you do,

So Iand believe it or not I am smoking my way through in box is a isla del Sol's now, I got them at a drew a state promotional event, I normally don't get boxes, but at this event when you bought a box. I got a separate can of commercially unavailable rarities from Drew states, and they threw in a nice hat, and gave me two free cigars to smoke at the event. altogether a very pleasant experience. the cigars are good, a fairly quick smoke, but a nice flavor like Jerry said, odd coincidence.

Jerry--

Thanks for the tip on the Isla Del Sol. Another excellent Drew Estate cigar for a short smoke is the C-Note, when you can find it. It is a cigarillo, and it tastes wonderful. I have seen them at Finck's Cigar.

Thanks for all the ideas. My buddies an I have gotten lots of different cigars to try and find a good one. My favorite was a real cuban Romeo and julietta (sp?) It was incredibly better than what I had been smoking. I really didnt understand cigars until I smoked that.

Jerry I'll try the Ilsa del sol they sound great!! Thanks for everything you've done for me it's more than appreciated.

Maduro is just about all my G19G26 smokes -- but then he is a pretty tough cigar smoker!
