Ok, I was watching youtube videos on cinnamon harvesting in Sri Lanka, the harvesters are using a tool I have never seen before and can find no information anywhere on the web about it. With no pictures on the web with many google searches, I resorted to taking screen shots during the videos to get a look at it. I am hoping someone will be able to identify this tool. They are all of similar design but not the same. All of these pictures are taken of 4 different tools. Any thoughts?

Yup. Some variation of socket-handled billhook. This one is Italian, but of similar pattern.

according to internet sources, cinnamon is from the dried, inner bark of the cinnamon tree found in Sri Lanka. Neat and cool:cool:

Update!!! Well FourtyTwoBlades put me on the right track with the billhook. With further searching I came up with this site. http://billhooks.co.uk/ which has these pictures.

With this statement.
The large bladed 'catte' at the top of the image is found only in Sri Lanka.

With this statement.
A 'katte' or 'catte' from Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon).

So it is called a 'katte' or 'catte', but a google search for either word only brought up the UK billhook website.

Thank you for your help I think that I have made about as much progress as I can at this point. Does anyone know of a knife-maker or exporter in Sri Lanka? I would like to get my hands on one.
