City Slicker Eskabar?

I would do the mod like Derek or like Granitestateofmind did with his 11. I have held the moded 11 and it is awesome. It will shorten the blade length but not make it look like you did. It has nice clean lines and fits the hand better. Add some custom scales and you have a really nice little knife. I would find the link to the mod but I am on my phone.

TD,

That is one fine looking mod. Great idea; longer grip and potential to shorten the blade. Whoever made this mod; hats off to them.

I'll provide the pics then....you could do the same thing with a 14.....might do it to my 14 when I finish up the 7...

Going to measure the cutting edge, here in NH no carry restrictions so I wasn't really aiming for a specific length, just wanted to get all four fingers on the handle.

Here's the entire thread if you feel like wading thru it....http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1165635-The-BK11-mini-chef-mod-FINISHED!-Pics-And-It-Did-Happen!

OK, tip to heel of edge is a shade under 3 3/16". I tried to remove as little of the edge as possible, though....shouldn't be too hard to "lengthen" the handle part and shorten the blade a little more. Mostly, I should think that depending on how you make it look, you're not going to have anyone measuring the blade to verify a claim of three inches. By that I mean if it looks like a little fixed blade utility, and not like a tactical blade, the "perceived intended use" rule applies. Who's gonna give me grief about a tiny fixed blade with a bottle opener on it's ass end? I walk into my child's elementary school with a 9" chef's knife sticking out of my pocket and no one says boo.....you can bet if I went to cut and bag fruits and veggies with my 5 it'd be a different story. Very few people see a chef's knife as a threat. I could be wrong about that in your jurisdiction (the 3", NOT the 9" LOL) but I've carried my Necker into places with a 3" law (city of Boston) and not worried a bit. It's a bottle opener with a sharp thingy for cutting limes is what I usually tell people.

Took this one just now:

Good luck with your mods and post some pics!

its amazing how beckerhead can achieve with the BKs. The amount of mod option are end and the sky is the limit.

nothing beats when you can have your BKs standout from the rest with that personal touch.

Granite,

Thanks for posting those. I'm fired up now. That is one sweet project you made.

Just can't decide now if it's going to be a 11 or a 14/24. (Really dig that D2 look and hardness; but the bottle opener just calls me...)). I'm having mental issues grinding up a new blade. Is there a support group on this forum if I f#@k this up; I;ve never tried anything like this before. May try to get some beat up used ebay sample to work on.

Believe it or not, I've got the same issues....took a LOT of talking it over amongst myself to work up the stones to take a perfectly good knife to the grinder. It'll turn out OK....if you're flexible about what "OK" is. You'll make mistakes, but you'll be the only one who notices them for the most part. In the end you'll have something that is one of a kind, and I think that's worth a little fear of failure. Plus, hardened steel don't grind so easy....so the mistakes happen slow enough (most of the time) for you to correct them. Pep talk.....check!

Hey Guys. That is not my blade. That 24 belongs to Derek and were his mods. I just happen to have the pic on my computer, and thought I'd repost it to help you guys out.

I would though, love to have a 24 like that. I have an extra one just sitting around and would pony it up for those mods.
