I would do the mod like Derek or like Granitestateofmind did with his 11. I have held the moded 11 and it is awesome. It will shorten the blade length but not make it look like you did. It has nice clean lines and fits the hand better. Add some custom scales and you have a really nice little knife. I would find the link to the mod but I am on my phone.

I'll provide the pics then....you could do the same thing with a 14.....might do it to my 14 when I finish up the 7...
Going to measure the cutting edge, here in NH no carry restrictions so I wasn't really aiming for a specific length, just wanted to get all four fingers on the handle.
Here's the entire thread if you feel like wading thru it....

OK, tip to heel of edge is a shade under 3 3/16". I tried to remove as little of the edge as possible, though....shouldn't be too hard to "lengthen" the handle part and shorten the blade a little more. Mostly, I should think that depending on how you make it
look, you're not going to have anyone measuring the blade to verify a claim of three inches. By that I mean if it looks like a little fixed blade utility, and not like a tactical blade, the "perceived intended use" rule applies. Who's gonna give me grief about a tiny fixed blade with a bottle opener on it's ass end? I walk into my child's elementary school with a 9" chef's knife sticking out of my pocket and no one says boo.....you can bet if I went to cut and bag fruits and veggies with my 5 it'd be a different story. Very few people see a
chef's knife as a threat. I could be wrong about that in your jurisdiction (the 3", NOT the 9" LOL) but I've carried my Necker into places with a 3" law (city of Boston) and not worried a bit. It's a bottle opener with a sharp thingy for cutting limes is what I usually tell people.
Took this one just now:
Good luck with your mods and post some pics!
