City vs. County Laws

I live in Los Angeles and know the city municipal code regarding knives, but do laws for the city of LA apply to LA county as well? I often go hiking outside of the city proper but within LA county so it would be nice to know if those laws still apply. Or maybe I am mistaken and the municipal code applies to the entire county. Thanks in advance for your help!

City ordinances normally do not apply to the county. The city is usually more restrictive.

In this case it doesn't matter. The County of Los Angeles has the exact same knife laws as the City of Los Angeles. (If you have looked up both sets of laws and noticed a difference, please post the details.)

In general, the county codes apply to unincorporated land inside the county and also inside cities in that county. However, the reverse is not true; city codes do not apply outside city limits.

shootist16, JohnnyLightOn, thanks for clearing that up. I like carrying my Busse and my friend prefers his HI khukri when we hike and camp but even some park rangers we've run into assume that those are only good for destroying the protected ecosystem of the land  . Hmmmmm since those city laws apply to the whole county I have to rethink carrying long fixed blades in public while hiking.
