Civil Ware Knives..Heard of them?

Okay I just checked out that link you posted. I will have to agree that they are going a bit over board with the "every shape and curve of the #civilwarestriker is made to cut and enhance bleeding." stuff.

Aha yeah I understand the Self Defense aspect to sell knives but their description was just out of this world. They need a new marketing director or someone to proofread. :D

Yes, the marketing is a bit silly, but many companies are just as goofy that way. For me, and with all knives it about feel. I play guitar and bass, and in that world the most bizarre idea would be to be to buy an instrument without holding it. Same with an archery bow, or a firearm. Judging a knife without being able to feel the weight, balance, and such for me is like saying I claiming that that cheeseburger on TV would be the most perfect tasting. In the same breath, it is a complete unknown. Until I have held I knife, I can only comment on ascetics and materials. There are several knives that I always wanted, till I got to hold them, and others I had no desire to own, till placed in my hand. So, before you trash somebodies knife, make sure you actually try it for yourself. I do find it interesting that there is no info posted on thickness of blade. If I do ever come across one I will be sure to add something here.

The sad thing is, people will keep on buying them for 'aesthetics' or 'self defense'. Sooner or later some kind of incident might happen concerning one of these knives, and how they're marketed will reflect badly on everyone else. Le sigh.
Kinda like how that has already happened to Emerson and Cold Steel.

For me when I buy a knife, if it appeals to my, then I consider it, if I don't I move on. I look at these, and I move on.

That fixed blade is designed for self defense? That's got to be one of the poorest self-defense designs I've ever seen. Oh, but some skater is repping it, so obviously, these are awesome. My mistake. LOL
Apache Indians were slaughtering their enemies with knives made of rock and glass, with a proficiency that has not been seen before or since. Any knife can be a self defense tool.

Infact, knives not marketed for self defense, have filled that role, as well as the role of aggressor, more than any knife marketed for self defense has.

Ah. The old "first post zombifing an old thread about a poorly looked upon brand."

Always suspicious, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

That said, I'll trash a knife wherever I want, thank you very much, and a knife "designed" by a skateboarder, that is that ridiculous looking....I don't need to try before trashing.

Silly, ugly knife designed by someone who clearly knows nothing about knives.

LOL.
I might be cynical but as others have mentioned; wording and 'necroing' thread a tad suspicious. Not like we havent seen that before from someone with ulterior motives.

And this.

The fixblade actually cuts very well. I've done two goats with one. And it's fits really nice in the hand. I just ordered the hatchet they released. Excited to see how it works. I've never used a hatchet I liked. You have to Market you product in someway to sell your stuff. Lol

Maybe it's the way he's holding it in the photo with his finger along the spine but isn't this design like a bullnose meant for skinning? Leaving aside the recurves and big bevels, that's kind of a specialty use design. Unless you're a big hunter/outdoorsman (and the skate park is not the outdoors) this doesn't seem like a good EDC. But to each their own, i people like it let them buy it.

That is exactly what it is. I have one of the Striker Folders. The action on it is phenomenal—it isn't an assisted opener, but it behaves like one. It's also the only knife I've ever owned that is as sharp out of the box as a Chris Reeve. The clip I'm not sold on (needs to be longer) and the G-10 is going to shred your pocket like an Emerson, but it's a well-engineered knife.
