Hi!
My first Spyderco, Dragonfly SS PE is on the way, can't wait.. :)
And allready I'm checking out for new Spydies.
I Guess this is the right place to ask about differences on those knives.

If I'm right, Civilian and Matriarch are almost the same, with reverse S-blades.
Merlin is close to Harpy, right? I wonder can anyone tell me about locking mechanisms and "lefty-friendly" aspect of these knives (locking&clip-reversibility)?
At he moment I have a chance to purchase Matriarch or Merlin, If I've got it right, they're discontinued, so= collectors stuff in the future... :)
But somehow Harpy SS looks good too. even the Cricket.. damn! But mainly thinking of those three mentioned in Title.

Edit;
Are all serrated spyderco edges half-chisel ground?

Any comments are welcome, thanks.

The Matriarch is a slightly smaller version of the Civilian. It had an FRN (fiberglass reenforced nylon) handle while the current version of the Civilian has G-10 handle with a single metal liner on the clip side. While they both use the front lock, which is totally ambidextrous, the Civilian clip cannot be repositioned for LH carry. There were a small number of left handed Carbon Fiber handled Civilians made a few years back.

The Merlin was very similar in size and shape to the Harpy, but like the Matriarch had an FRN handle. The current Tasman Salt is an "updated" Merlin that features totally rustproof H-1 steel and traction grooves on the thumb ramp. The Merlin and Tasman Salt blades are slightly thinner (2.5mm) than the Harpy (3mm). As with the others they all use the fully ambidexterous front lock. The Harpy, like the Civilian, is limited to right hand clipped carry only.

Thanks Deacon for the information. Just noticed Your pages, lots of info there.. :)

Guess I'll have to do some drilling to get the clip for lefty. As I'll brobably have to do with Dragonfly, if I don't remove the clip.
