Civilian steel?

I have one of the Aluminum Civilians with an ATS-55 blade. Is this rare or were they done this way while switching over to the G-10 model? I've just started noticing that everyone is always mentioning that they're aluminum model is G2 steel.

Hi,

Mine is also ATS-55 Aluminum< I guess both our Civilians were from the last batch of Aluminum handles - Now the question remains how many were produced in that last batch - I guess at least 200-300.. and who knows-- My guess is that demand or the Aluminum model will reach a certain point were Spyderco would have to go for another new ATS-55 Alum batch soon..

I am not claiming any more than a guess here, but IMHO it will be some time before this version achieves collector status. I suspect the aluminum handles were being paired to the ats-55 blades for several months, and many are still available from dealers.

In a few years (if kept pristine) you may have something for a collector to get excited about.
