Just received in this green micarta Crit and wow, is it a fantastic knife!

Front flipper for both parts means all the fidget fun you could ever hope for.

Knife? Check.
Ruler (inch and centimeter)? Check
Screwdrivers? Check
Strap cutter? Check
Hex wrench x4? Check
Bottle opener? Check

I typically need to carry a SAK as a backup to any knife I carry, but anytime I’m using it it’s to pry things, use the screwdrivers, or open a bottle. I don’t use tweezers or toothpicks much, and never need a can opener.

Anyway, check out my pics and tell me what you think. Do I really think this is a SAK killer? It’s a close one. If Civivi pops out one of these in Damascus with copper or carbon fiber scales, I might just faint.

Oh, come on........

That's like looking at a stripper with her clothes on!!!! :p

Open that baby up and let's see those tools. I am moderately intrigued.
There are more picture lol I did take pics of it open. Let me try just posting the pics to the thread instead.

Ah, sorry - I just realized there were multiple Imgur images in your first post.

Regardless, thanks for posting them all.

Any blade wobble at all on any of them?
Very slight.. I have come to expect a slight amount in two-blade knives, keeping in mind this is no GEC. Interestingly the strap cutter is a fantastic package opener. Zips through tape like it’s nothing.

Civivi is really clever in keeping the simple lines. Saddens me more makers don't have an eye for the "simplicity" aesthetic (block handles, symettrical blades, proportions)... but try as I might, the chinese production sullies my vibes, a bit loyal to switzerland I suppose.

For my money the sak farmer remains king.

Let's not forget that the "strap cutter" is quite versatile. In addition to cutting through cordage, tape, zip ties, etc., it is also a seatbelt cutter.

I do like the simplicity of this knife's design. I doubt it would replace any of my SAK's, but it might supplement them rather well. I might have to get one.

Agreed. It’ll never replace my SAKs entirely, but I know the days I carry this I won’t be in need of two knives.

No I don't think it is a SAK killer. Not even close. There is no way that is going to replace the Swiss Champ in my pocket. I doesn't have any of my most used tools. To me it looks a lot closer to TL129 electricians knife than a SAK.

O.B.

Replace a SAK, never. I'll stick with my beloved Tinker.
Nice try by Civivi, also Swiza and Boker Tech-tools, etc. but still nothing beats a SAK IMHO.

No thank you

You have to admit, Civivi is making moves and keeping a lot of people on their toes!

In short...No

but I'm glad you like it and it works well for your needs

I can't lie, I do like me a bottle opener and package opener though. However without scissors it could never be a SAK killer as you say, for me personally. Not to mention, it's from a brand that I have no interest in, but that's neither here nor there.

I don't think it's got any of the people in charge at Victorinox "on their toes", however. In fact, I'd be surprised if Civivi ever crosses their mind, tools or not; nor does it have any reason to. We're talking about the largest pocket knife manufacturer in the world here, one with a longstanding heritage. I honestly don't even think that any of the other companies putting tools in their folders pose a threat to the Swiss Army Knife either, but rather reinforce the reasons people love them, and Victorinox executes mass produced knives in this segment better than anyone else so far IMO.

You sound worried, honestly.

Not likely. Victorinox offers tons more tools in all of their variations, and personally I've found the right ones for me have a saw, phillips head screwdriver and awl, in addition to the blades. I also use the can opener on mine quite a bit.

I also really dislike front flippers, so that makes this an automatic no from me anyways. I usually carry a SAK as a "people friendly" knife in addition to whatever knife I'm carrying (usually a flipper or an auto), so a flipper of any kind defeats that purpose for me.

What...in the world...would I have to be worried about???

If I came across that way, my mistake. Truth is, I don't worry about much, certainly not a knife that I wouldn't even carry if it were given to me for free. I was trying to be polite, as it is not my style to sh!t on what other people enjoy. The fact is, the idea that this could be a "Swiss Army Knife killer" is laughable, and I'm not just saying that as a fan of Victorinox/Wenger. Enjoy your PRCAK with the Comedy Central logo on the pivot my friend. ✌️

I have 5 Swiss Army knives. This isn’t a competition. I like to explore all types of knives and I certainly don’t crap on knives because of where they’re made, like SOME do… because last I checked, some of the best knives on the planet are coming out of Reate, Kizer, Civivi/WE, and Kansept. But people can puff their chests out about their SAKs. I wasn’t trying to trigger you with my thread title, just wanted to promote discussion.
