Civivi Scintilla

I also had no idea this was going to be included in my order until I saw the receipt, and initially I opened it, flipped it a few times and put it away. A few days later I came back to it and played with it a little more, and on close inspection, I'd have to say this is one of the best freebies I've ever gotten, far better than the Civivi that I got as a freebie from KnifeRights.

It's small, but it fits my hand really well with the forward choil on the blade. It's a relatively thin, and very broad blade, so it comes down to a nice keen edge. I'm not a huge fan of the way the liners stick out just past the G10, but it seems to have been a design choice, rather than a flaw in manufacturing, so I can't fault it for that. Overall it's a well executed knife that I will either use or, more likely, give away to a friend or coworker who needs a decent knife.

If I didn't already mention it, WE does an exceptional heat treatment on their 9Cr18Mov. Forget 8Cr13Mov. The 9Cr18Mov in Civivi and Sencut knives can hold a better edge than Spyderco's VG-10.

Yeah, there are other impressive knives in the sub-$50 category. I mention Petrified Fish because they kill it at the $30 level. Their scales can have crisp edges and they generally don't use flush screws with their loop-overs but they are still significant wins under $40. You might also be interested in the Sencut knives from WE. While Civivi still has exceptions like these under $50, Sencut has taken over most of their action on the low end.

I wish I could get excited by QSP but I've given them lots of chances and they've given me too many lemons.
I don't have many QSP knives, but my Penguins and one fixed blade are exceptional, although the Penguin Mini is too small to one hand open and the grind lines are inferior to previous knives from them.

I have a Sencut Watauga and it's a very good knife - sharpened by G2 with added lanyard. Great action and fit/finish. t's a keeper.

One of these came with my order as well and I was also going to give it away for the holidays, but decided to hold onto it. For what it is, it's a nice knife. Mine didn't need any adjustments out of the box. If this was someone's first experience with the brand, it put out a very good first impression for Civivi.

Welcome to the forum!

LOL joking since it's your first post but you've been here here since 2018. I have you beat, joining in 2011 and posting in 2022 for the first time, just lurking all that time.

I was going to gift the Scintilla as well, but last night I instead gave away a Civivi Imperium in shredded carbon fiber to a friend. I think I paid $50 on the exchange for the Imperium, but I kept the free Scintilla for myself - it's just more my style.

I got this model free with black Friday purchase at blade HQ. While I'm happy with the Hogue Deka Carbon Fiber that qualified me for free goodies, the Civivi Scintilla really impressed me.

Now the problem, when I ordered the Hogue I thought the free Civivi would be a good white elephant gift for the upcoming holidays.......but now I want to keep it for myself!!!

Even worse is they don't sell this model, it's just for bladehq as a promo!
I recently bought a Spyderco Manix 2 with blurple scales and S110V blade, and it came with a Civivi Scintilla free—in November 2023.

The Scintilla has the BladeHQ logo on the blade. The reason I’m here commenting is that I did a search online because I am so impressed with the Scintilla, I wanted to see how much it retails for. It feels like a $50-70 knife, seriously.
