The Custom Knife Collectors Association holds our Annual Banquet/Meeting each year on Thursday night before the start of Blade Show at Maggiano's Little Italy right across from the Waverly Hotel-Cobb Galleria. CKCA members can get your banquet tickets @ http://customknifecollectorsassociation.com/Member_Only/2013_Banquet.html

Six of our member knifemakers each create a special knife and offer it to CKCA members via the box draw system. We try to create 6 knives of various types ranging in price from about $400-$6000 in hopes to have something to please all member's taste and price ranges.

It works out well as it gives our member makers a chance show their great talent and meet and get to know collectors who they may not get to meet otherwise. It gives our member collectors a chance to meet and visit with makers and perhaps get a very special knife that they may never get otherwise.

Announcing the Six Knifemakers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show:

Joel Chamblin

Jerry Fisk MS

Burton Harruff

Sean O'Hare

Michael Ruth Jr JS

Terry Vandeventer MS

These member knifemakers will no doubt offer our membership a very diverse group of fine custom knives.

Am familiar with all but one of the makers listed -- Burton Harruff. Looking forward to being at the show -- post the dates Kevin. I do have our hotel room booked though and expect to be busy as usual. Might even find a knife.

This is my once in a year chance to meet everybody!

So, I'll be there with my son Nir, who does the design concept
and the cover designs of my books.

I hope that Julie Warenski-Erickson (with Curt Erickson) will be able to
attend too, as they will be introducing Julie's book at the BLADE show...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

This is really the best way to kick off your blade show meet new folks see old friends eat good food and support the CKCA .

GREAT line-up Kevin!

I hope to attend. I thoroughly enjoyed it last year.

Happy New Year to ALL,
Peter

Congrats to all the makers. It is really nice to see Sean O'Hare in there, I have 4 of his knives and consider him a friend, great knifemaker. I have been putting off joining the CKCA, I think it is about time I do so.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone at the CKCA again this year, it's a highlight at Blade!

Glad to see Joel Chamblin with his hat in the ring this year. He'll have a cool slip joint for sure. Great line-up of makers Kevin.

You are right Ron, Joel will have a very special Slip-joint for our Show.

In addition, Michael Ruth Jr is currently planning for his CKCA Show offering to also be one of his MS Test Knives.

Murray, Burton in my mind is one of the up and coming knife makers you have over there in the US and he makes a real nice knife.

I have five of his knives with another two on the way to me right now. He has won a few awards at the Mid Ohio show and for the past two years I have bought the winning knife from him. Check this link. http://www.burtoncutlery.com/

Thanks for the nice words Rick I appreciate it. I am excited to be included in the Mini Show and was very surprised and honored when I got the invite from Kevin, thanks again. I am looking forward to meeting you guys face to face and getting to see some first class makers work up close. Regards, Burton.

I would like to say thanks to CKCA for this honor of being chosen this year, it means alot. I am looking forward to meeting new friends and seeing old ones. Thanks Ron and Kevin for your comments.
Joel

Well deserved Burton you have been making some GREAT knives the last couple years, Now go down there and make Us Ohio boys proud

I'm pleased to see Burton's name on the list. He apprenticed at my shop when he started making knives 6 or 7 years ago. Anything he wanted to learn he went at with great intensity. I showed him how to go about forging a blade; he went home and forged a hundred blades in just a couple of months. He craves learning.

I am biased here, Burton and I have become good friends but I can say without doubt, he will excel at whatever he aspires to and becoming an accomplished maker is one goal he has set for himself.

Burton certainly deserves the opportunity and I'm pleased he's participating in this year's show.
My first exposure to Burton's work was at Larry Bailey's 2009 Ohio Classic Knife Show. I happened to be judging
and was obviously impressed with his work as he won both "Best New Maker" and "Best Hand Forged".

I always look forward to spring and seeing what our mini-show knifemakers have come up with. There's always outstanding knives for our members to choose from.

Great looking line-up, Kevin.
The CKCA Banquet is one of my highlights over the entire Blade Show weekend.
Everything about the mini-show, the makers who participate and the other members attending is nothing short of top shelf.
Anyone reading this who attends the Blade Show and is not yet a CKCA member is missing out on a fabulous evening.
(You'd better start sweating, Burton. Your knife is gonna get fondled and discussed by some of the top tier collectors and makers on the planet!!)

Thanks for the encouraging and inspiring words guys.

Karl, thanks as if I wasn't sweating enough about being in the company of such accomplished makers and educated collectors!

Excellent line-up! The CKCA banquet and mini-show at BLADE Show has become a major highlight for me every year. The relaxed social aspect of it along with the chance to snag great knives from top-shelf makers balances out the stress and frenetic pace involved in actually working the show (although that's fun too!).
