The Blade Show is on the list. Early June this year as usual. Last year it was early (late-May) for some reason.
Gonna have to re-calibrate the ol Mark 1 eyeball.

I have included the updates (thank you, for posting them) and the 2010 show schedule complete with show website links have has been uploaded to the CKCA website "Events" web page.

We will maintain this schedule throughout the year, so feel free to visit often to keep up to date on what's happening on the knife show scene.

note: if only 2009 show information is available via our links it's most likely the result of the show promoters having not updated their website to 2010 show information as of yet.

In light of keeping the community up to date on some things the CKCA is doing, we have just introduced our first "CKCA Club Knife". Not sure we will do one every year but it will be one of our regular projects along with our annual Cancer Research Benefit Knife and our CKCA calendar.

Our club knife will obviously be a "custom knife" which will always be made by a CKCA member maker.

As you can imagine creating a "custom" club knife as opposed to a production can be quite an undertaking when considering quantities, materials, maker schedules and of course price. We will keep these knives priced reasonable for our members. This year's knife w/sheath is $300. ALL our club knives without exception will be delivered in the same year the project is implemented. Our first group for 2010 will be delivered @ Blade Show.
This year's club knife is just about sold out.

The 2010 CKCA Club Knife:

Karl Andersen, is our knifemaker for 2010. The knife which is about an 8" OAL integral EDC with through tang bolted and pinned construction. We were looking for a good looking custom made knife that was near indestructible and after examining the prototype it was obvious that Karl and Larry Bailey had succeeded in their design.

All these knives will closely follow the design/prototype (or at least as close as a custom made forged knife can), however will be offered with variety of materials. Again, thanks to Karl for taking on increased complexity in giving our members variety.

Material options:
Handle - Ironwood; Blackwood; Spalted Maple
Steel - 52100; W-2 w/active Hamon
Sheath - Karl's durable standard sheath or upgrade to a Paul Long sheath.

Karl really deserves a big pat on the back for stepping up and taking on this difficult and time consuming project.

This example (our prototype) has a Blackwood handle and 52100 Blade steel. All knives with the exception of this prototype will be marked CKCA:

The club knife was a cool idea - hats off to all involved. I'm looking forward to mine.

Our third annual CKCA Mini-Knife Show will take place on Thursday Night June 9 2011 as part of our Banquet/Annual Meeting.
That's the night before the start of Blade Show.
Each year seven different CKCA member knifemakers create special knives to offer our members at this event.
We will share photos of there knives as they are completed.

Announcing the seven Knifemakers for this year's CKCA Mini-Show:

Karl Andersen

Thad Buchanan

Tommy Gann

Don Hanson

Ron Newton

David Lisch

Mike Quesenberry

These member knifemakers will no doubt offer our membership a very diverse group of fine custom knives.
