Clam pack Delica legit?

At a Gander Mountain store near my home, I saw for the first time today a clam pack Delica. The handle was stainless steel. The part of the blade stamp I could see said Spyderco / Stainless. It did not have the spider logo on the blade. The blade grind looked identical to my FRN Delica. The packaging looked kind of low rent. I thought I had memorized the model number..but..I guess not.
Was this a legitimate Spyderco knife? What steel is marked "stainless" instead of VG10? It was priced $10 more than a real FRN Delica.

Hard to say for sure without seeing it. The Spyderco clampacks don't really impress me any more than any other clampacks, but they do use them. I have purchased a stainless Delica 4 in a clampack.

Did it have 4 way clip position holes? If it didn't, it may be a Delica II, with AUS6 Stainless stamped on the blade.

There are indeed clampacked Delicas in existence. However the lack of a logo and at least a steel type stamped on it leads me to believe it is, in the very least, not a current gen Delica. Pictures would help.

Gander Mountain carries their Spyderco's in clampacks (mainly the Delica/Endura, Dragonfly). It is possible that it's a D2, but probably the real deal. They've been doing it for years.

read the back of the pack....if it has the "fair and honest" warranty wrote out, it's probably legit

Another vote for it being a perfectly legitimate, "new old stock" Delica II. Would bet the lettering on the blade that you could see looked like that on the right side of this picture...

Steel is AUS-6 and the marking say "AUS-6 STAINLESS".

my G-10 Byrd Flight from NGK arrived in a large plastic "clampack" stuffed inside a green box.... the clam wasn't glued shut otherwise my Mule would've taken care of it :)
