Clarity on the C81CFPE2 – Para Military 2 Carbon Fiber CPM 154/CPM S90V

When I first heard of this sprint I dismissed it because of the small numbers and the anticipated high price. Now we can guess better what the price is. I was wondering why the low production number, now we know. We would like to see them make 3 times as many, but if they don't have enough material then they don't have enough material.

I don't fault Spyderco for anything. Just manufacturing the knives will be a good test of this material and I like to see them expand the frontiers of technology. There are a good number of people in the collectors club that are dealers and will likely sell their copies of this knife, so some of them will get out beyond the ones that they allot to dealers to sell.

Had it in my cart was ready to hit confirm order but...then I realized I was about to spend $500 for a spyderco and I quickly hit the X in the corner before I did anything stupid lol.

Finally, here's a picture:

That one on ebay sold for $595. After fees, that person made around 45-50 bucks. Lol

Might have been a dealer that sold it on Evilbay, profit margin would have been higher...

Noticed 2 more on the bay with short auction times..

It is completely possible too that a person who got one is selling it because they are not into PM2's. Maybe they are a collector of a handful of other models, and use the CC to ensure they will secure those and the PM2 does nothing for them. So they sold it, put a minimum so they don't lose money and whatever happens, happens. They aren't automatically evil flippers.

I'd like to hope that's the case myself, but none of the ones that have been listed are CC numbered.

That steel sounds interesting, would like to see a report on someone using it after a couple months. Sadly, I don't think any of those will ever be used at that price.

I love Spydercos, i really do but i do not see $500 worth of knife here. Even the pics make the handle material look kindof....should i say cheap. Not like high end carbon fiber i would expect at this price point. This just seems so high when you consider this gets you into many quality mid-tech knives.

I just wanted to say thanks to Sal, Taz, and all of the spyderco crew that join this board.

It's absolutely awesome so see this level of involvement with a community of super-fans. We have to only account for maybe 5% of their revenue, but somehow they make me feel like I'm part of pushing the advancement of knife making and super steels. :D

FWIW, there are only 200 slots in the Collectors Club and, AFAIK, not all are filled, so not all will wind up in the hands of collectors. As for the other, with no offense meant to Spyderco, aside from laminates that use damascus as the outer layers, I'm not sure what this, or any other laminate brings to the table for 99% of users, aside from wavy "hamon-like" line on the blade which, if history is any indicator, serves mostly to give nit-pickers one more thing to whine about when it's not exactly the same on both sides.

Bingo !!

Thank you Spyderco for having the courage to take risks and do things that no one else has. Being the first will always cost the most. If it wasn't for people doing this you might not have all the super steels you have today. So I'd say stop complaining and be thankful.

Can anyone post a link of where to sign up for the Spyderco collectors club. Thanks
