clarke drill press brand

when at tsc today to look at motora i noticed they had this floor drill press with a laser guide for $179. does any one know anything about this press or this brand?

the price is right but is it any good

Hi,

Pretty standard China made drill press. Price is OK. Speeds are fine for mostly wood working. OK in steel for drill sizes 7/16" or less. Consider coolant for any drill bigger than 1/4". They cheaped out on the motor, (hence the good purchase price). 550 watts while nominally 1/2hp in China, isn't really very powerful.

If you just want to drill an occasional small hole in steel, you could be happy with it. If you want to drill everyday all day, get something better.
