Anyone ever seen a Clash without Speedsafe? I was a Big 5 yesterday and saw a Clash on sale for $22. I got it home and it's a normal flipper. I guess I should have known as it has thumb studs. Still a great knife but a little of a letdown.

a couple things could have happened.

1. It might be fake
2. the torsion bar might have broke
3. They sold you the wrong knife as something it isnt.

Do you have any pictures?
or...

4. They ordered the Clash in a manual. :)

Yeah, Big 5 doesn't sell spring assisted knives for some reason. Everytime I go there and see an assisted Kershaw... it isn't assisted.

holy crap I didnt know they offered it in a manual. I looked on your webpage and didnt find any info on a manual version.

I can't send pictures as I'm a ways from home and my camera. The box says Clash TS 1605TSSTB5. It looks exactly like all the pictures I've seen of other Clash knives but it has thumb studs on both sides of the blade. Maybe Big 5 is a large enough distributor they can get them w/o Speedsafe. I wonder what Ken Onion thinks about that...

Maybe if you crack it open You could just drop in a torsion bar and make it assisted. Maybe all they did was leave the bar out and everything else is the same.

I thought of that but haven't opened it to look. The non AO does have thumb studs where my AO Clash does not.
