Starting next spring Gary Rua and myself will be conducting knife making classes at my shop. It will touch on the majority of all the skills need to make a knife. Forging, making Damascus, stock removal and etc. We have to figure out the charge for the classes.
If anyone is interest give me a heads up.;)

IG put me on the list depending on cost. I have never been to another makers shop or taken a lessen. Guess it is about time to really learn how to make a knife :D:confused:

Bubba, you could come up for the weekend, I have a open bedroom now. I don't think it would be much more than $30 a day plus supplies. If you have 1084 and L6/15N20 you could bring them. I have a half roll of cable too and it would be free to the attendees.;)

Sounds like a great opportunity.

Fred

Nick took my comment:grumpy:.
You have to be really early around here to get in on the good ones.:D

No, I really mean it; this is a great opportunity, to learn the skills needed, from a very skilled maker.

IG, Dude!

That's like for free man! Material & supply costs plus $30 for a full shop with forges, anvils, hydraulic presses, grinders, etc, AND two expert bladesmiths. Holy smokes man, you're not even paying for wear and tear with that, never mind how you're not even making any wages with that "fee." Kick it up man, to at LEAST $100 per day (plus supplies) for all that! When you count shop costs and you two guys' time, it should be more like that per hour dude! And it'd still be a GREAT deal! (Not that I could afford though, ha ha.)

All the best, Phil

Thanks IG. Whatever yoou guys decide I am interested. I would really appreciate the opportunity to learn and be around some guys who really know the trade!

Good points Phil. Thanks:thumbup:

Hey IG, when you guys get a time frame nailed in a little more precise, let us know!! I've yet to be able to get to any hammer-ins and/or classes because of the job and the travel, but I'd love to! The earlier I know about it, the easier it is to plan.

Wow that price is cheap. Are you sure your just now getting students to crush red peppers for the heat treat relish? Isnt it harvest time there?

I think this is actually some plot to start some sort of Portagee food cult... just my 2 CSA cents.....

Don't knock it till you try it.;) I make a kickass Portagee Seafood Stew.:thumbup: I had Dewey eating it his last visit and it was the first time he had snails. It really works good if you are constipated too.:eek:HEHEEHEHEHE!!!

Harvest time has passed. Didn't make any HT'g relish this year, due to the problems that I went through.:(
