Thanks for the recommendation but that handle just looks awful, being rounded and what notOpinel No. 7 SS.
This Case Jigged is perfect! Does anyone know what "surgical steel" is technically? Google says it's just stainless 316Case Jigged Rosewood Slimline Trapper - everything but the brass bolsters. Technically nickel silver is a type of brass.

Eh the wait won't bother me as this knife is not pressing to the collection, just simply saw the knife on Fear and Loathing and it struck my fancy. I'd rather wait half a year and have one of a kind when it comes to the type of knife I'm asking for than just getting another run of the mill Winchester or whateverTake a look at Enigma knives, I got one recenly and am really liking it. As far as customs go, I've got, and am waiting on another from K'roo. He does great work if not as refined as a maker like T.A. Davidson. (I would love to but don't own one of his). There are a number of really good makers on here if you look. Only issue with a custom is the wait...
Holy man. I'm loving that tan one ...how much would something like this cost if you don't mind me asking?I've had a couple made recently by Andy Fannin. Exactly the specs and materials I was wanting. Excellent f&f and he gets them to you ridiculously quick.
I'd recommend Todd Davison, Ian VanReenen, & Bobby Toole also.
Here are my 2 Fannin's. Neither one has liners so they're both lightweight but the cf Zulu is crazy light.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep my eyes peeled that doesn't sound like a bad idea eitherI've seen quite a few beauties flow through the knife makers exchange(under folding). Some of them almost had me pulling my wallet out. A lot were using 154, which would be a perfect steel for an apple knife.
Case's stainless steel is called "Tru-Sharp" which is currently Latrobe 420HC. It works quite well on apples and can take a very sharp edge. This Case Jigged is perfect! Does anyone know what "surgical steel" is technically? Google says it's just stainless 316
Great info about the steel, now it seems I'll have to keep an eye on the traditional tradeCase's stainless steel is called "Tru-Sharp" which is currently Latrobe 420HC. It works quite well on apples and can take a very sharp edge.
GEC did a run of 48 Trappers in 440C stainless steel and bird's eye maple a few years ago. You might be able to find one of those on the Exchange or Ebay. I think there were some single-blade versions of them. They are very similar to the Case Slimline Trapper.
Very sweet knife, but your right about the hook..can it be done easily ?View attachment 720723 One knife that is available is a GEC #48 Woodcock in SS. Of course you might want to have someone remove the hook.

Well, thought it would be more like a DIY type of thing ..Glenbad is your man.
Is this the GEC Viper? I just saw one in a video and it appealed to me very much, and still less than 100 bucks somehow haha.I would argue the idea of stainless being your only option. The knife below cuts several apples a week. And with cutting fruit, you get to watch the colors change on the blade. Simply wipe it off after use and good to go.
I do agree with the suggestion of having a custom built if money is not an issue. Some of the craftsmen on this sight make beautiful products.
