"Classic" cleaning question

I just picked up a "510 Classic" It supposed to be mint but needs a lot of cleaning. What is the best way of removing the gunk without damanging the embossing? I wany to get it cleaned up for the Sunday picture show

I'd use a soft cloth and warm water on the handle. Then when you finish rubbing on it merely dry it off. On the blade you could use Flitz or other products like it. Be sure to 'not' get these products on the handle. Is your 510 a year date block stamp or old English script? DM
