Classic Old-School Mutant (Show-and-Tell)

:thumbup:Great blade Will, I was admiring that mutant since I saw it on the exchange the other day. Thanks for sharing the history. Love that clip point, she looks like a wicked fighter! I picked up the ZTBM that was in the same group. The first batch to be shipped to a dealer. Andre sure is a great guy to deal with:thumbup::)

Great score Will. You beat me to it despite a phone call and a text about the listing. I call dibbs. :D

Thanks again to all for the gracious congratulations and well-wishes. Very humbling, and I appreciate it.

Nice score on that ZTBM, and I agree--it was a real treat to meet Andre face-to-face and chew the fat with him a little. The man knows a lot about the old days and a lot about INFI.

I was surprised the knife lasted as long as it did on the Exchange. Not enough of those old pieces around to satisfy all of us who’d like to have them—I feel your pain. Well, maybe "feel" isn't the right word in this case, but I DO understand it. :D

dimples on A2 blade looks cool.

.... pretty sure this one is INFI ;)

Yep--INFI dimples.

GOD she's Beautiful!!
I'm still discovering most of the early designs and it's just AWESOME to not only see HQ pix, but to get the history too!!!
As one of the new piglets roaming around the trough, thank you VERY much Will for taking the time to do this for all of us!!!!!! :)

My pleasure evltcat--wish the photos were better. I'm working on a little better set-up.

Thanks again to all.

Will, Congrats Brother!!! That is one of those exceptional piece's and couldn't have gone to a better HOG...

Oh my Oh my Oh my that is a freaking bad ass example of early INFI. Yes Yes Yes...I've actually bead blasted early INFI blades similar to these and the close up pics you posted Will look close to what I remember my BB knives looking like. It's a very cool finish indeed. Smooth to the touch but yet a bit of ruggedness to it. And that edge grind was one of the first things I spotted. Fat and wide...freaking bad ass! God I wish Jerry still put out that edge grind. I've found that it's not the easiest to maintain but the performance is off the hook!

Damn fine example of the ole school Busse blades Will. I'm a little "green" over here bro....but in a good way. Heh! Happy for you man.

Thanks for the congrats, and I just added to my original post to say I ran across a photo I took years ago of a Steel Heart 1 which has a very similar finish to this one, minus the dimples--had forgotten about that. So this may be that same bare-metal finish, something between a competition finish and bead blast, that was used at the outset. Another cool throw-back.
