Classic vs 21

If you got to choose between the Classic and the 21 with the same inlay which would it be? Will the older Classic be smoother? Just wondering
 
Classic, because I like the elliptical cutout for the thumb. Other than that, I'd wouldn't have a preference.
 
They are basically identical. Why do you think the Classic would be smoother?
 
My older regular is stupid smooth and easy. I thought that the newer ones have more tension on the blade from the lockbar. Making it a little stiffer
 
It's probably because it has been used for a long time and broken in. My 2009 21 is ultra smooth while my 2010 small 21 is a little more stiff.

But for looks, I like the Classic more because of the stamp.

Does anyone have a picture side by side that shows this? I always thought the cutout was the same on the classic and 21.
 
I think the new washers on the 21 play a small part in keeping the knife
lubed for a longer period of time maybe making it smoother once its broken
in.
 
The only part of the Classic that I prefer over the 21 is how the hollow ground portion of the blade near the tang does not go under the handles on the Classic. It may sound confusing but if you look at the two knives you will see what I mean. Other than that I prefer the 21.

I agree 100%

this is exactly the same thing ive felt with every classic and 21. The classics open much more smoothly.

Seroiusly though, I always thought of the Classic as a little more refined than the 21.

Thank you for your post Marthinus. I followed all the links, it was very educational.

I too find that I like the Classic and 21 much better than the regular.
 
There is nothing at all wrong with the Classic/21 style, but I'm a regular kind of guy...
