Was thinking of getting a small Sebenza. Not sure which type to get.

What are the pluses and minuses of each type for all of you? (other than looks)

I own a Small Classic and I got to play with the Large Regular. So if the Small Regular is just like a mini version of the Large Regular I am in a decent position to compare them.

The Classic has a pointier blade whereas the Regular has a slightly stouter blade. On the Classic you'll notice the grip feels "softer" because of the lack of scalloping but the cutout still affords excellent grip. Since the cutout is also larger on the Classic you'll notice it is a bit easier to unlock. I think that about sums it up as the differences are very minute. I personally prefer the clean lines and simple look of the Classic, and I'm not that big a fan of the scallops on the grip. I also like my blades nice and pointy. However if I were to buy a large I would seriously consider a Regular since the blade shape appears to lend itself to harder use.

Well... there's a slight, amost unnoticable difference in blade profile (more pronounced with the large Sebbies). The regular blade is slightly wider (the spine curves down toward the tip in a different location).

The regular handle in the small Sebbie is more comfortable for me to hold and manipulate than the classic handle if the scales are plain. OTOH, my small micarta classic handle feels as good as my small regular plain handle, so I guess the inlays help my grip some. And I don't have any preference for comfort in the large Sebbies, both feel fine to me.

The lockbar is easier for me to manipulate in the small classic version because of the deeper cutout, but that's not enough of a difference to keep me from using my small regular as EDC.

I like the regular my self, no reason one way or the other, its just the one i like.

I just went through the same thing...I ended up with a small regular. I can see where the classic might open and close a bit easier, but the grip on the regular is great. I don't think you can go wrong either way...their both great knives. I plan on owning several more before I'm done...large is next.

I think you just have to pick the one you like the looks of the best. I think it is a coke or pepsi kind of argument. Apparently from the comments you have already gotten....many people end up with both!! :)

Between the two versions of the Small Sebenza it is pretty much a toss up which I like best. They are both outstanding.

Wow, the blade looks shorter with the Large Sebbie.

I can definitely see the handle curve difference, and also how the regular blade could get mixed up with the classic blade. Is the blade itself etched or stamped to denote the difference? If not, they really should be.

I like the convex-up handle profile on the regular, both in terms of ergonomics and not cutting myself when the knife is closed. Also like the looks of the regular more - in both sizes.

You can have the blade reground and reprofiled if that's a concern.

IIRC, you can't swap blades between regular and classic handles.

I have both and it's a tossup for me too.

I prefer the looks and blade shape of the regular over the classic. The scallops also give a nice amount of grip. The small classic is quite comfortable and I would imagine the large is too, but I just like the regular better.

Blade lenghts.

There is a small difference between the blade lengths of the Large Calssic and Large Regular Sebenza.

Any difference in length with the Small? I live in California, so I can only EDC the small one.

Unless they have changed the CA state penal code recently, AFAIK you aren't limited to a 3" folder.

Maybe some county or city in CA has a blade length limit of 3" or less?

The blade on the Small Classic Sebenza is slightly longer.
