I tend to root for the underdog, so it's no surprise I find myself more and more interested in the 'Classic' Sebenzas with their double-bevel slabs, single hex hardware, and signature "Classic MM" engraving. It seems they are under-represented on this forum, at least in pictures. I doubt I will ever own one, but one of my "Grails" is a classic MM in Lignum Vitae. I am on the fence as to whether the 21 is a more refined version of the Classic, or if it is less refined. They are just different enough from each other to be worth having both maybe. I don't know, never having held a classic.

Anyways....I know CRK likely produced a few hundred of these a week?/month? for quite some time, so there has to be a lot out there. Maybe we could see some pictures of these camera-shy folders? Do you own a Classic? Are you a fan of the MM folder? Do they feel different in hand?

In hand, I find no difference, had to have a large and small for my collection. I do like the stamp over the Idaho Made stamp. I have also noticed, not many show up. I look at a couple more sites and don't really see the Classics go up for sale that often. Kinda makes you wonder if a bunch were made or if folks are holding on to them. This pair will probably leave my house.

I'll have to pull out my large and small classics tomorrow for some pics. They tend to stay in my knife drawer since I carry my 21 Insingos more.

I like how the blade appears to extend from the handles a little bit further than the 21. I also prefer the single hex hardware as well as the "Classic MM" stamp.

My small African Blackwood Classic that I picked up here on the knife exchange...

A couple very nice submissions from Burnside and Ajack, but in general, I rest my case! All those classics that were made by CRK must be in storage.

Burnside.....I had never noticed the difference in grind between the 21 and the Classic. I see now the difference. It's interesting that the plunge line on the 25 is the same as the classic, being proud of the slabs. This is very obvious in Ajacks photos.

I gotta add that I miss the old CRK stone-wash. I have one knife with it, and it's really sparkly and gorgeous. Nice to see it on these old classics.

I believe that my small classic 'wood' sebenza was a special order that the original owner had CRK put together. He asked for double lugs and a stone washed blade instead of the polished blade that the 'wood' sebeznas usually come with. I also like the older stone-wash that they used to do one the regulars and the classics.

I'm surprised there are so few Classics being posted.

I have always liked the look of the Classic MM. I am not sure if they are under appreciated or not. They certainly don't get all the press that the regular gets, but you don't see that many for sale, so my guess is that they are with happy owners.
My 1st was a small blackwood with stonewashed blade(CRK order) and second a large micarta inlay-sorry I sold them, but that's life.
There have been many Sebenza's between then and now, and I barely remember many of them, but those 1st 2 I have very fond memories of. The wait seemed endless for that custom order to arrive.

This is one I had a few years back. Every say to yourself " why did I let that one go".

I will say it for you "why did you let that one go?". Holy moly.....a classic in brown leather inlays. Not so easy to pick another of those up. That is a cool knife.

That is an amazing texture Nyefmaker. One of the most interesting I've seen from CRK!. Thank you for the tip Lathrop. Amazing knives there as well

Classics are the best! They do not feel 'different' in hand because the form is very similar to the 21, but the lock bar is rounded off where you disengage it, so it does not cut into your thumb like the bevels of the 21 do.

Took a while to get the matching pair. Also have a matching set of classic mm micartas. :)

Wow! Some great looking Classics are starting to show up in this thread. I just scored a nib plain jane small classic. Should be on it's way here tomorrow. :)

Here is my favorite CRK, a large classic. I had double silver thumb studs put on it. Don't quite know what it is about this knife, but I really like it.

Hey Kalsu, can you post a pic of the jimping on your knife? It looks different that what I have seen on other Classic's and 21s

I believe that's the rare jimping that I've seen on some Regulars. I didn't know it was also used on some Classics. That's a very nice large Classic
