Classy Outdoor Hat

No question the wool toque my grandmother knitted me is my absolute favorite both for sentimental and practical reasons. Wool is one of the best materials for outdoors and a toque or knit cap or watch cap in the US is a very practical head gear especially this time of year until about june where i live.

In summer my headgear is a PASGT helmet for 95% of the time ,not because I am in the military but because i ride a motorbike or quad so much. If i need something with more sun protection than a ball cap i usually wear the cadpat boonie hat. I probably should invest in a better quality version but it really does not get enough use.

I could not bring myself to wear a Tilley. I know they are well made and all but the absolute worst type of summer cottagers with their jettas that are such an enormous pain in the butt during the summer season can be spotted by their Tilley`s


I am going to get another coonskin cap with the head of the raccoon for the brim for my trip to London next year. I had one as a kid but actually wore it out. I also had some really cool leather and fur mukluks.

I could do a nice straw cowboy hat but around here the only people who wear Stetsons are the rodeo guys with the HUGE belt buckles.
 
I gotta an oilskin baseball style cap to wear especially if it's raining or expecting rain. I also have a cowboy hade that is an open weave so as to breath on a hot-humid day. And...a number of cotton baseball style caps to wear. I'm not about to spend very much money on headwear when, affordable stuff works very well.
 
I like cowboy hats...I used to wear an old straw Wrangler, but I broke the wire in the brim carrying some girls around while drunk...I will look for pics of that, it's pretty funny. But anyway I recently switched to a felt one from Charlie 1 Horse. I like it a lot more, actually.

There's a whole story about the fight I got in with the clerk where I bought the hat but I don't think I will tell it here! This the forum where I focus on the friendly side of my personality!
