Hello!

Finally had the time to take an image if my CAS collection to this day and wanted to share with you.

The Sobrals are great people and I am glad to be able to call them friends; AND I really love their work and look forward to more... :)

Here it goes:

I will add images of the individual pieces later on.

UPDATE 14.04.2014:

The latest addition is in a seperate reply further down - a Scagel-style Hunter in the trademark CAS-Style. The handle-sculpting alone is amazing.

Formal shots will follow later (waaaaaaaay behind my schedule...)

UPDATE 14.04.2014 - No.2:

Added old shots of the indicidual knives in a reply further down.

Best regards,
Alex

That's quite the collection you have there. Just by looking at pictures I'd say they are nothing less than beautiful. I could not imagine what to expect actually holding one. I have wanted one of their knives for a good while. Congrats on your collection!

Fantastic! Each is so beautiful; it's hard to pick my favorite!

Well no wonder I am unable to obtain one....you have them all. :)

Outstanding collection From an impressive maker(s) !

I opened the thread and uttered a loud "WOW!"

Quite the party going on. Looking forward to the solo interviews... ;)

Hey Alex,
what I great picture! Every knife looks great. If I have to pick a winner: my favorite piece is the main khukuri.

Hello!

Thank you for looking in and commenting, guys!

I really can't say enough good things about Claudio and his brothers - I have never had more fun working on new projects with any maker!

Jim, the solo-imgs will take a while, but I'll do my best not to let you wait too long! :)

To begin with, the one that started it all was a Khukuri Set in the trademark Sobral San-Mai Style with great Amboyna-burl handles. We decided to do two smaller blades that sit in the same sheath as does the Main Khukuri (images of the sheathed blades will follow). Really turned out a striking package. Also, did I mention that it is really a blast working with Claudio? ;)

(a shot by Ariel that shows Claudio forging the main Khukuri)

Here's how it turned out (sans sheath):

How this set came to life and the quality of it really got me hooked - we talked a lot afterwards and I consider the Sobrals very good friends allthough we have not met face to face yet. We are still trying to find time for the many projects we came up with in the following months btw... ;)

More images will follow.

Thank you again for your interest!

Best regards,
Alex

PS: Hallo David! Great to see you! I'm sorry for not getting back at you so far... it's been a busy week. I'll be in touch later tonight.

PPS: Sorry, Dave! :o :D ;)

Hello!

Thanks everyone! Glad you like it! :)

Here is a shot of the last CAS piece (so far... ;) ), a great Persian:

I will fill in the other knives in between later on.

Best regards,
Alex

Beyond the collection itself, let me say I admire people that enjoy and promote an artists work.
I have just received my second CAS knife and as $ permits I will continue to purchase CAS blades.

I use knives daily and have found myself constantly upgrading my daily use blades, to find the one (or 3) that does what I need. This recent CAS knife, for me, is right on the money.

Thanks again for showing your collection. Very easy on the eyes!

Hello edgemaster!

Thanks for looking in and commenting! And congrats on your CAS pieces!

You are spot on, I really enjoy working with Claudio and his brothers! :) It's always fun to try new stuff as well. I like to collect Hawkbill blades and figured, one in the trademark CAS San-Mai style would look great.

Here is how it turned out:

Really complements my other (if only remotely) comparable knives nicely: ;)
