Hi All,I started experimenting with clayless hamons and this is one of my first, also expect some in W2 coming that I’m currently working on. The hamon is produced by careful control of the steel structure and geometry prior to quenching producing a soft spine and hard edge. This is made from an old file as is evidenced by the texture remaining on the handle. Obviously the steel is shallow hardening likely 1095. It is not sharp or uncomfortable it was a fine file and all the edges were rounded over before heat treat. Intended as an EDC given its lack of handle scales. It is about 5/32” thick. OAL is about 6.25” with just shy of a 3” blade. Hand sanded finish with polished hamon. Price is $100USD including a kydex sheath. A leather pocket sheath can be made for an extra $20USD. Thanks for looking!
