I have a baldor dc motor and purchased a dc motor control from surplus supply in order to make a variable speed, reversible disc grinder. Do I need a clean box for the dc motor controll. I have seen they are very important for vfd controlls but are they important for dc controlls?

Thanks

John

It depends on the NEMA rating, I put mine in a clean box. The black tubing on the left side of the box goes into my garage attic for clean air supply to the box. I wired a fan to come on when I power the VFD's

I would wait and look it over when you get the drive, but it looks like it has the same type enclosure as the one on my Bur-King and I have used it for 12 years with no problems.

Just make sure there isn't any spaces or gaps for dust to get in.

Take care

Charles
