Okay I have this thing for folders now and I would like to know how do clean out yours in when you need to in the bush? Let just say all you had was a folder say like a buck 110, boker m-type, and a SAK. How would you clean them?

Depends what I'm cleaning from it. If it's solids they can just be chased out with the tweezers or toothpick from the Outrider handle. If I've got it gummy with blood and bits of fur are sticking to it I'll dunk it. Bit of cotton wool and a prod to get the worst of the water out afterwards.

I don't, unless there are big 'ole chunks of somethin on there, I just leave it until I'm home. Now if you're on an extended trip and leaving would lead to rust etc, I would just bring along the head of a toothbrush and maybe some type of CLP(cleaner, lube, protectant) rem oil, wd-40 etc. although if you can get it a teflon based lube would probably be best

last weekend my Emerson CQC-14 was completely gunked up with pitch. I solved that problem by putting it away and pulling out another Emerson (CQC-16)

I carry a Rittergrip. The only field debris that I've ever worried about was when I spent a weekend near a sand dune. Fine sand got everywhere. Still, it was easy enough to rinse off with water.

I've found using water and some scraping with a stiff length of grass or small stick is sufficient.

sometimes i'm sitting around and looking for a nice little relaxing activity around the campfire or on a rainy day sitting under the tarp...plenty of that last weekend.

then i like to do a little tool maintenance to keep myself busy, even if my gear doesn't need it.

then usually whittle a toothpick and scrape out any lint and junk inside my slipjoints. i oil the blades and wipe everything down.

A green stick smashed with the poll of my hatchet, or a rock makes a nice little straight brush to scrub out nooks and crannies if needed.
