How To Cleaning acrylic paint off of G-10 scales?

Howdy all,

Recently scored a Cold Steel AK-47 folder from a thrift store, and the previous owner decided to paint blade and the scales with an acrylic paint.

Any ideas what I can use to help clear this crud off without potentially damaging the scales?

I would try isopropyl alcohol and a stiff brush as it will not harm the G10. You could also sand off the color if you don’t mind also sanding the g10.

Paint thinner and acetone might damage the G10. If you do decide to use alcohol, use some sort of oil like mineral oil afterwards to get rid of the chalky white appearance it may leave.

You likely won't damage the g-10 short of excessive heat.

Thanks! I'll get some before and after photos, though I've already torn it down.

Appreciate the tip, I was thinking about hot (not boiling) water to start loosening it up. Wasn't aware of it's heat tolerances.
Hot water won't hurt it at all.....even boiling. I meant flame.
