I have been using mine for a while now and I have noticed build up on it. Any advice on cleaning? Any major warnings or things to avoid?

Thanks.

P.S. I am semi-new here but have been reading many posts. I have a Black Izula(My only RAT).

A creme cleanser like youd use in the kitchen has worked fine for me, its a bleach and slight abrasive just wash in water afterwards. Haven't tried but toothpaste might work too:thumbup:

Comet powder kitchen cleaner/mild abrasive

Scotchbrite pad. Add a bit of the aforementioned Comet if the build up is really bad.

I use a different approach, I oil them and then wipe them with a rag. All the metal deposits come right off.

Barkeepersfriend, it has a chemical reaction with the metal and literary eats it away.

A little water, BKF, and a nylon brush will make them look newer than new just rinse well you don't want to leave any cleaner on the stone. No ill effects except a clean stone with little effort. After using spyderco ceramics for several years I found it to be one of very few products that properly clean ceramics, its also works on other types of stones too.

I dont use ceramic, but I have extremely fine japanese waterstones (up to 30,000 grit) and I just use a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser pad. Just fyi

+1 for Barkeepers Friend.

I use Hoppes No 9 on a gray scotchbrite pad for my ceramic stones, restores them to a factory new appearance with a single drop.

I stole this stuff called Bon Ami from my mother's cupboard. It works great with a scrubby sponge or sos pad. Soft scrub worked before that just fine.

Scotchbrite and Comet is what I use. But, I just tried the Mr.Clean Magic Eraser pad. Wow, this thing works on everything!!
