Cleaning crud off blades

Seals, I've found pure Clove oil to be an extremely powerful solvent, capable of damaging the glass reinforced polycarbonate that DMT makes their diamond stone bases out of in a matter of hours. People also put it full strength on a toothache to kill the pain, and cloves go into apple pie. I wouldn't worry too much about the lectric shave :)

I know,Weird though right?Lectric shave.Try it,it puts goo gone to shame.

Tuf-cloth works pretty well for removing tape goo for me... Cleans and protects all at the same time.

Ok, so i know you have a lot of suggestions, but i'll throw in my 2 cents for some fun. I work in a big box store and run into the same issue. What i did to start was remove all the coating on my blade and polished up the metal with sand paper. the glue doesn't stick so well to it after that. then for cleaning, i have two methods.
-On lunch, when i'm bored, i use a pen eraser from cvs. it's slightly abrasive so works well for everything from tape glue to tree sap. But not enough to scratch the steel
-The second thing i do, cause i'm super lazy, is some just run it through some plain cardboard. It's also a bit abrasive and does great while in the middle of work. some cleaner like acetone, wd-40, or just spit, will help this method as well.

Just spraying WD-40 seems to be working really well. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I plan on giving all of them a try at some point.

I just use WD40 and a rag.I have to clean tape off my Wifes Caly Jr all the time. She's the only one at her job that carries a knife. So,when a box needs to be opened, guess who the others ask for?.:D

I used to get methyl salicylate at the drug store, but since 9/11 people are paranoid about chemicals. Methyl salicylate takes off the gunk really well, but is will dissolve some plastics. It can also be used as honing oil and it smells nice (wintergreen).
