Yesterday I purchased a small DMT diamond hone to keep in my truck. How do you clean the metal that has been removed through sharpening from a diamond hone?

I clean mine by running under water and hit it with a scrub brush. When using I use dry and use a wet rag to wipe off after each side is sharpened. Its amazing how much metal it picks up and clogs in notime.

Thanks, Bob. I wasn't sure whether cleaning with water would somehow compromise the adhesion of the diamond grit to the working surface.

I have am Eze-Lap diamond shapener. I use Warm water and soap or diswashing liquid. I do noy use a scrubber

Scrubbing with a mild brush only dislodges any particles missed by the running water but doesn't affect the stone as I am still using the same one for the past 12 years.

I use WD-40 aerosol when I'm in my shop and soap and water when I'm in the house. For some reason I like WD-40 better.

DMT recommends you use a stiff brush, and a houshold cleanser such as Ajax. Works great!
