The big eraser type cleaner works great on 40-120 grit but seems to clog up my higher grit belts, leaving a residue on the blade. Anybody have any tricks or tips??

If you start to get a residue buid up and it transfers to the blade the
belt is worn out. The eraser may work a small amount after that but
not much.

the higher grit gator belts work good for me and last a long time

Try hitting them with a STRONG blast of compressed air at one of the wheels--or anywhere else the belt is flexed a bit--while the grinder is running. I find it works better than any eraser I've ever tried...

This is excellent advice.

I'm discovering that it's more than worth it to spend a few bucks more on Trizacts once you get over 120-ish grit. They last WAY longer than anything else I've tried.
