Can the micarta handles on my rats be cleaned easily. I use them alot and the handles are discolored and have seen plenty of deer blood. Should I even bother or is it worth trying to get them to look new again. My knives get used alot, is there something that would be a good cleaner for after cleaning game besides rinsing with water?

Great question, I was about to ask this myself. My RC-5 slabs smell like armadillo fat. The smell has finally worn off of my hands but seems to have set up shop in my micarta. Tried dishwashing liquid hoping that would cut through the grease but no luck. I can smell the knife hanging on my hip as I type this. It's not a bad smell, I'm just tired of it.

The handle on my RC-3 was quite dark after a lot of use, but good ol' soap and water cleaned them right up, looks new again.

Dawn dish soap, tooth brush and hot water.
They will look brand new.

You guys try just throwing them in the dishwasher?

EDIT: I only ask because I tear apart my glocks once a year and do this and they look brand new!

Thanks you guys were right, I used hot water and dish soap and the handles on my hest look brand new. Now i'm on to the rc's.

This is the last pic I was able to take, its of the rc4 and hest. My wife has the camera in her car. It was before cleaning. I used to just rinse them off with water and the handles would still dry dirty looking.

Just use simple green it works great

Oh man, I can't stand that stuff, the Marine Corps uses it to clean everything, except weapons of course, it makes my agent orange act up just to smell it.:D

It's a great cleaner, just nauseating.IMO

You could run the scales in the dish washer and run a couple times. If you have scales that come off easily.
