cleaning rust off BM 921

My benchmade 921 switchback appears to have gotten a couple of rust circles on the main blade. How can I clean these without messing with the finish?

My benchmade 921 switchback appears to have gotten a couple of rust circles on the main blade. How can I clean these without messing with the finish?

Two things I can think of are try to remove the rust with Breakfree CLP (available at any gun store or sporting goods dealer). It is used by the military for small arms. It C-leans, L-ubricates, and P-rotechs.

Secondly, send it back to Benchmade under their warranty program for a tuneup, oil change, tire rotation, etc. It will come back sparkly! Just be patient if you send it in as it may take a month.
