Cleaning Sharpmaker rods

Barkeeper's Friend is the best option because it is made with an acid that actually dissolves the residual steel particles left in the stone. It comes in a powder, paste, or spray. Does a pretty great job for keeping all types of sharpening stones clean and fresh feeling.
 
I just received a Lansky eraser block to try out and it does a decent job cleaning the SM rods. I'm going to use it when I need to clean them dry - when I'm traveling. Not sure if it works better than Mr Clean magic eraser because I never tried that.
